Tonight, I was approached by the admiral for the alliance [PORK].
Some of you may have had interactions with them. I had a run-in with someone who later became a member so I have a pretty clear idea of the kind of alliance they run: clean, fun, active and involved.
Their admiral asked if I had anyone in my alliance (I told him it was our alliance) who might be interested in switching over to PORK.
To be honest, I didn't know anyone who was disaffected with The A Team but I told him I'd lay out a case.
He hasn't cleared this with his members but he is looking to fill some empty slots in the PORK alliance and I can understand why he'd approach us. We have a bunch of really great players, and from the small core we started with just a few weeks ago, have built a pretty formidable machine.
Personally, there is no one I would not miss if they chose to switch over or leave entirely. I still miss Charissa's contributions to chat and her opinions.
So the pros of going to PORK:
1) They are a much stronger alliance than we are. You'll level up much more quickly in Alliance-related things like Armadas and Territories, in Borg space and in the DS-9 arc.
2) As I implied earlier, they are a really good, fun group of folks, much like we are. You won't lose the camaraderie you have in AAA.
3) You'll learn much more there than you will with us. We're all kind of learning by the seat of our pants. Even our most experienced players would only be mid-level in PORK.
The cons:
1) You'll lose whatever alliance credits you've earned with us. That's built into the game, which means you'll also start from zero with PORK but as I said above, you'll quickly get up to speed with that.
2) Ummmmm, I think that's really the only factual downside, frankly. Of course, you'll be leaving us, and we think we are the best alliance with the best potential on this server.
No, not think: know.
Whatever your choice is, you a) don't have to let us know publicly (if you want to drop me a line just to notify me, that will be welcome) and b) no one will hold it against you. Hell, I still refuse to hit wiffledork and he moved to BORG.
We have a growing and vibrant alliance, one that is actively looking to recruit players as we make ourselves stronger and better players.
Personally, I hope I can tell PORK to pork off -- err, sorry -- that no one wants to switch but there will be no hard feelings if you decide AAA is not the place for you. It's a delicate balancing act, trying to keep people who want to grow faster happy while not frustrating people who are trying to keep up.
Anyway, I'm putting this out there for discussion and for you to read and think about.
